Chickens are important in Afghan culture. As one of our refugees told us, “every Afghan woman knows how to raise chickens, and every Afghan man knows how to butcher a chicken.” Chickens are an important source of food and are also loved by Afghan children. So the women in our Stitch Initiative make chickens to raise money for their community. Do you need a study buddy, or just a lively addition to your decor?
